Phase 3 SRF- Ault/Rollins Storm Water Separation
This is a storm sewer project. A storm sewer will be installed on Ault Street from Carpenter to Rollins, then run east on Burkhart to the 300 block. It will join an existing storm sewer that daylights north of Rollins to a drainage ditch. The project will include stream restoration to north of Wendall Lane. Additional work will be done to relocate a sanitary sewer that runs under a house on East Burkhart. This project was advertised for bids on November 10th. A pre-bid meeting was held on November 17th and bids were opened on December 3rd. A Notice of Award will be issued pending easement certification.
Phase 3 SRF - Reed Street Combined Sewer Project
This is a combined sewer project. The combined sewer replacement begins near Ault Street and crosses Morley and extends approximately 4,500 feet to the Taylor Street CSO. A focal point of this project is replacement of the brick archway. Although this will remain a combined sewer, this replacement will reduce inflow and infiltration by replacing the old brick sewer with a larger diameter pipe and will eliminate a bottle-neck under Morley Street. This project was advertised for bids on November 10th. A pre-bid meeting was held on November 17th and bids were opened on December 3rd. A Notice of Award will be issued pending easement certification.
Wastewater Disinfection
A new process at the wastewater treatment plant will include ultraviolet disinfection. EPA and DNR have determined that the stream classification to Coon Creek should be reclassified as fishable/swimmable. This will lead to a near future requirement to disinfect our wastewater effluent. By doing this now under ARRA assistance, we will save on future requirements. The City's consultant, Jacobs Engineering, is currently working on design plans for UV disinfection. This project was advertised for bids on November 10th. A pre-bid meeting was held on November 17th and bids were opened on December 3rd. Notice of Award will be issued following the Council meeting on December 21st.
