Disposal
The City of Moberly has joined a national program called Call2Recycle. This program will provide a convenient, economical and environmentally safe method of disposing of worn out rechargeable batteries and old cell phones. Rechargeable batteries are commonly found in cordless power tools, cordless and cellular phones, digital cameras, hand-held games, remote control toys, etc.
Rechargeable batteries, depending on the type, contain alkaline, carbon zinc, lithium, cadmium, or mercuric-oxide. These batteries, when improperly disposed of, will corrode and leak toxic chemicals into groundwater from landfills or surface water from illegal dumping.
Commitment
The City of Moberly is committed to protecting the environment. Recycling worn out rechargeable batteries and old cell phones is a win, win proposition. It allows the City to take another step toward their environmental goals and invites area residents to join them in their continuing efforts.
Collection Boxes
Collection boxes have been placed at City Hall. When a rechargeable battery will no longer hold a charge, or old cell phones are no longer used, area residents are encouraged to bring them in for recycling. The service is free, it is easy and it protects our environment for years to come.
